Understanding your silo configuration

A silo configuration combines the storage structure with the way material moves through your site.

Start with the stored material

Fly ash, cement, grain, aggregate and coal have different storage and handling requirements. The engineering brief should identify the material and the operating conditions before dimensions and equipment are selected.

Understand the structural arrangement

The supplied technical material describes spiral lock-seam silo walls and vertical stiffeners. Their arrangement is determined through project design, together with the silo roof, supporting steelwork and foundation interface.

Coordinate the material flow

Conveying and discharge equipment should be considered with the silo layout. Depending on the application, the proposal may also address ventilation, temperature monitoring, fluidizing equipment or medium-specific corrosion protection.

Define the scope before construction

Confirm which party is responsible for silo fabrication, installation, civil work and supporting equipment. Detailed numerical specifications, structural loads and project acceptance requirements are established for the individual project.
